Bornean tree hole frog suspected (Metaphrynella sundana)
Bornean tree hole frog suspected, (Metaphrynella sundana?) Malaysian penninsular. I’d never heard of tree hole frogs but that’s exactly where I found this one — and he looks remarkably like the pictures I’ve found of the species.
The hole in question was about as big as my hand and a good a few inches deep — enough to collect and trap a cup or so of water.
But this seems like a risky choice. On the one hand, he has a great hiding place. On the other, if a predator locates him he is potentially trapped.
