This suspended moth cocoon is a different specimen than the one elsewhere on the page. The thread was much shorter, and I was able to get a little closer -- although it was still a challenge to photograph in situ. At least you can see the pupa within the cage. I'm pretty sure the thread is woven from the caterpillar's hair. It may belong to a moth in the genus Cyana.
