The most convincing leaf mimic I've seen.
Amblypygids have raptorial forelegs (actually, modified pedipalps) and are nocturnal. This one was hunting on the side of a tree and facing down, which is typical. This one had just moulted and his colors are quite a bit brighter than is usual. I rescued the molt and added it to my cabinet of curiosities.
The long snout is, effectively, a cannon, and the guard can eject a sticky substance from it and entangle potential enemies. I had to crop this photo to exclude the distracting mess of termites that these guys were protecting.
